Singapore Foils Record Number Of Smuggling Cases

SINGAPORE, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The Singapore border authority foiled a record 33,100 contraband smuggling cases and rounded up 2,077 immigration offenders in the first half of the year.
The republic's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the achievement was due to rigourous security checks at its entry points and sustained enforcement efforts.
In its mid-year report released Thursday, ICA said the number of contraband smuggling cases detected at the checkpoints had increased by 39 per cent over the same period last year. Full Story
