A local court has sentenced a couple in La Union to life imprisonment after being found guilty of crimes related to the production of "crush" videos two years ago.
The San Fernando Regional Trial Court Branch 30 also ordered Vicente Ridon and his wife, Dorma, to pay a fine of P9 million after being convicted of child abuse (Republic Act 7610), animal welfare crimes (Republic Act 8485), human trafficking (Republic Act 9208), and wildlife-protection crimes (Republic Act 9147).
The Ridon couple were convicted for filming scantily clad girls, one of whom was a 12-years-old, stepping on and crushing live animals to death. Full story

This happened at my residence in Sentosa this evening 25 June 2014. My son was driving back from his army camp and just after entering Sentosa, a car cut abruptly into my son's lane so my son horned at him to avoid any accident. As a result, the other driver horned back at my son. My son ignored this and continued driving not realizing that the other car driven by an angmo was following him.
Once my son reached our residence car park the other car tried to follow but was stopped by the security. So the angmo left the car outside and ran inside the carpark even though the security guards tried to stop him.
He ran towards my son who had parked his car and followed him. When my son entered the lift lobby using his access card, this ang mo barged into the lift and started shouting at my son accusing him of nearly causing an accident. My son denied this and then the ang mo pushed my son against the wall and strangled him while lifting him by the neck.
My son was shocked and then the angmo took a picture of my son and threatened him. The attacker then rushed off but was stopped by the security. We called the police who is investigating the matter. We managed to take a picture of the assailant. Full story

What starts out as a beating, turns vicious as large bricks are thrown to his head, rendering him unconscious. Finally, they actually go pee boy's face.
The victim has been identified as Li Chin, who died of died of intracranial hemorrhage.

More than 600 Hongkongers blackmailed by Philippines ‘sextortion’ ring, police say

Police have arrested 58 people in the Philippines for their alleged involvement in a global internet “sextortion” racket that snared countless victims - including more than 600 Hongkongers - in the past 18 months.
Officers working in conjunction with the Hong Kong police, Interpol and US authorities raided premises across northern parts of the country and cracked three syndicates known to be targeting overseas victims.
According to Philippine National Police Chief Alan Purisima, the syndicates had created provocative, alluring and entirely fictitious social media accounts to entice unwitting victims into live cybersex activities. The criminal groups would then secretly record the footage, before threatening to expose the victims to their friends and families unless they handed over between US$500 and US$2,000.
Sanjay Virmani, director the Interpol Digital Crime Centre based in Singapore, said the victims were from Asia, Europe and the United States.
In Scotland, one teenage victim committed suicide last year after being blackmailed by the syndicate. Full story

"Yesterday, my friend went for breakfast at a coffeeshop at Toa Payoh Lorong 4 (the one opposite the Catholic Church, near the library), and he saw two men pumping out something from the sewer.
"He approached them and asked them what they were doing, and if they had a licence from any department or company.
One of the men left the scene, and Carol's friend tried to prevent the other man from leaving until the police arrived, but he threatened to beat her friend. Full story

A 42-year-old primary school teacher pleaded guilty on Wednesday to committing indecent acts on a 13-year-old student by kissing him on the lips and giving him love bites on his neck and shoulder.
The teacher, who was seven years older than the boy's mother, had gone out on dates with him. She cannot be named as it could lead to the identification of the victim, who is a minor, reports The Straits Times.
A district court heard that in early 2012, the boy, who was then in primary six, got to know the teacher as her son was in the same football team as he was. She was also in charge of the Malay dance course that was attended by his two sisters. Full story

A stalker brutally slashed and stabbed student nurse Pavithra Gunashekharan, the day after she turned down his marriage proposal.
The man, who was armed with a kitchen knife, waited near Block 415, Jurong West Street 42 for her.
After the Nanyang Polytechnic nursing student fell, he sat on her and viciously cut her repeatedly as she screamed for help.
Her father rushed to her rescue and had to pull the Indian national off his daughter. But by then, Miss Pavithra was left with multiple deep wounds on her neck and body. Link

StanChart client data stolen in Singapore via Fuji Xerox server found on hacker's laptop

Bank statements belonging to hundreds of Standard Chartered's richest customers were found to have been stolen from a server at Fuji Xerox Singapore, the third party where printing was outsourced.
The unauthorized access only came to light after files containing the data were found on a laptop, belonging to the recently arrested alleged hacker "The Messiah", according to Today. James Raj Arokiasamy was arrested last month and charged for hacking a government website and has been linked to a spate of other cyberattacks.
Standard Chartered was notified by Singapore police of the theft of 647 of its Private Bank clients' monthly bank statement for February 2013, according to its joint statement with Fuji Xerox on Thursday. Full story
