Singapore - Singapore Airlines on Thursday said it was carrying out new inspections on its fleet of A380 superjumbos after Australian safety inspectors warned that a manufacturing defect could cause failure of the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines fitted to the aircraft.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau released its warning Thursday following investigations into a mid-air engine blow-out which forced a Qantas A380 to a safe emergency landing in Singapore on November 4. Full story
