Influx of foreign workers will continue because SMEs need them, claims PM Lee

Comment: There is this idiom: "Fool Me Once, Shame On You; Fool Me Twice, Shame On Me".   How many times are Singaporeans being fooled?

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says Singapore has not reduced the number of foreign workers but is slowing the inflow of foreign workers. The number of foreign workers is still rising, he says in his speech at the National Day Rally.
“Singapore has a stable economy, high employment. But there will be downsides as we transform our economy. We need to control foreign worker numbers, or it will lead to serious consequences,” he says.
The small and medium enterprises (SMEs) need foreign workers, he notes. The demand for foreign workers exceeds the supply, he adds. The government is helping them adjust, says the PM. “The Government understands difficulties that businesses have, and we will try our best to help.” Link
