Wednesday, Stats Chippac Ltd. (SCIPF.PK: News ), a provider of semiconductor test and advanced packaging services, announced a restructuring plan to reduce its global workforce, to better align its operating costs with the challenging business outlook.
Stats said it would reduce about 1,600 employees, representing about 12% of its global workforce. The company expects this workforce reduction to be complete in the first quarter of 2009, and sees a restructuring charge to be determined in due course.
