The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said maximum efforts are being exerted to protect nine babies rescued from a children’s home allegedly engaged in selling them in Singapore.

“The DSWD condemns all forms of human trafficking activities and we will cooperate with the law enforcement and other government agencies in combating this evil,” said DSWD Secretary Esperanza Cabral.

Nine babies were found in the house of Voltaire Gallido, former mayor of Jala-Jala, in Rizal province. Police found out about the foundation’s operation when it was serving a warrant of arrest to Gallido for estafa.

“The house is being rented by Singaporean national, Low Ai Lian Irene, who is suspected to be a member of a syndicate selling babies in Singapore,” Cabral said.
