More Singaporeans going online to become finance-savvy

SINGAPORE - A Google survey of Singaporean financial research and purchasing habits has found that nearly three out of four or 70 per cent the island state’s residents go online to research financial products and services that interest them.

The survey, which polled 601 respondents, revealed that Singaporeans tend to go through three behavioural stages - information-gathering, evaluation of options and final decision - before taking up financial products such as personal loans and insurance policies.

Financial company websites (64 per cent) and search engines (63 per cent) are the two most popular online resources for research.
Across all three stages, Singaporeans appeared to be most concerned with value-for-money as they research, compare costs and seek out special rates or promotions.
