Apr. 11, 2008 (China Knowledge) - Led by its mayor Wang Weicheng, officials from Changzhou municipal government and large-scale local companies courted Singaporean investors in the Changzhou Meets Singapore, A Seminar for Bilateral Investment & Trade held in Singapore yesterday.
Located at the central region of the well-developed Yangtze River Delta, Changzhou enjoys a favorable geographic location and plays an important role in the economic development of Jiangsu province.
Representatives from Singaporean enterprises that have already set their foot in Changzhou shared their experience of investing in the city with the attendees.
Singapore and Changzhou can strengthen their cooperation in quite a number of sectors, such as industry, scientific and technological innovation, educational training, city infrastructure and tourism, according to the mayor.
As of the end of 2007, Singapore's investment in Changzhou reached US$798 million, with 183 projects covering fields like electricity, iron and steel, food, optical electronics, chemicals and real estate.
