Singapore -The escape of accused terrorist Mas Selamat Kastari is a setback for Singapore, but the city-state's security forces will recover and "become stronger as a result," Foreign Minister George Yeo said in a published report on Sunday. Focusing on the nation's reputation on the international front, Yeo told The Sunday Times, "The battle against terrorism is a long drawn-out affair. There will be ups and downs. What is important is the way we respond to mistakes and recover our position."

Despite a scouring of the city-state by elite forces and police, posters of the 47-year-old fugitive plastered on every available space, a massive turnout of volunteers participating in the manhunt and 5.5 million cellphone alerts, there was still no trace of the man accused of once plotting to hijack a plane and crashing it into Changi Airport.
