The figure is slightly higher than the previous year - 9, 800 workers were laid off in 2010.
5.5 workers were made redundant for every 1,000 employees in 2011, down from 5.7 in 2010.
The information came from the "Redundancy And Re-entry Into Employment, 2011" report released by the Ministry of Manpower's Research today. Full story
