CRIEnglish.com, 19 Sep 2011Singapore needs some 2,000 pre- school teachers by 2012 despite efforts to uplift the profession, a union official said on Monday.
"We are facing quite a serious shortage in the area of childhood educators especially when the desire to expand these services is in full blast," said Zainudin Nordin, executive secretary of the local Education Services Union.
People in the industry said it has to do with pay and people's perceptions of the industry. Some choose to leave the industry even after getting the proper qualifications because the pay just doesn't match up,..... Full story
