SINGAPORE, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Singapore's Presidential Elections Committee Thursday issued certificates of eligibility to four candidates seeking to contest in the country's presidential election scheduled for Aug 27.
In a statement, the committee said it had received six applications but decided to issue only four such certificates, to Tan Kin Lian, Dr Tony Tan, Dr Tan Cheng Bock and Tan Jee Say, after having deliberated on the merits of each application.
Of the six applicants, the committee was satisfied that the four presidential hopefuls were men of integrity, good character and reputation. Full story
