Singapore is set to introduce new guidelines on junk food advertising. The policy has received backing from Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan, after recently published statistics indicated that diabetes rates are now at a 12-year high.
Mr. Khaw considered emulating Swedish and British policies banning junk food advertising on channels and TV shows targeting children. However, this approach has reportedly been unsuccessful in reducing the countries’ obesity rates. Full story
