Singapore's National Heritage Board to Spend $8 Million on Art Projects

SINGAPORE—The National Heritage Board of Singapore plans to spend $8 million (U.S. $5.6 million) over the next five years to help fund commercial cultural projects in the city-state, reports Bloomberg. The government agency, which operates seven museums and a number of related cultural centers, will pay half the cost of approved projects up to a maximum grant of $100,000 under the new Heritage Industry Incentive Program. The board has already approved several projects, including Sky Media’s plans for an internet-based TV station that will produce 10 documentaries on local artists.
