SINGAPORE, 19 JUNE 2008 -- Singapore’s Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) has awarded a project to the Singapore Computer Systems (SCS)-Hewlett-Packard Singapore (HP) consortium.

IDA’s Grid Service Provisioning project seeks to provide software, high performance computing and data storage as a pay-per-use, on-demand, on-line service to enterprises and public sector agencies.

The project comes at a time when demand for software as a service (SaaS) is on the rise. Research firm Gartner forecasts SaaS to have a 22.1 per cent compound annual growth rate between now and 2011 for the aggregate enterprise application software market, more than double the growth rate for total enterprise software.
