The Department of Health urges people not to take health product Power 1 Walnut as it can cause a serious drug reaction.
The Singapore Health Sciences Authority said yesterday six people suffered low blood sugar after consuming the product with one of them in critical condition. Glibenclamide and sildenafil - Western drug ingredients for treating diabetes and impotence - were found in the product, which is not a registered pharmaceutical in Hong Kong.
The department urged people with sexual dysfunction to consult medical professionals.
Improper use of glibenclamide can cause serious health consequences including death.
