Recently, the display prices labeled on the shelves of NTUC Fairprice (a supermarket chain) is not the price you pay for the purchase. Shoppers have noted that cashiers do not adhere to display prices and charge approximately ten to twenty cents more per product in Singapore currency.
The misquoted prices may be due to NTUC Fairprice’s massive giving out of food coupons to low-income families following sharp rises in food prices. However, shoppers still commented they were dissatisfied with the turn of events.
NTUC, which stands for National Trades Union Congress, is a trade union under the Singapore government. NTUC Fairprice is a supermarket chain as a cooperative under the trade union.
