TPP threatens access to generic affordable medicines, say NGOS, Doctors Without Borders

Countries negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement with the United States have been urged to follow Malaysia's lead in refusing harmful intellectual property proposals and assuring that people will continue to be able to access affordable medicines in the future.
TPP countries comprise the US, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Canada and Mexico, with Japan joining the talks as the 12th TPP member. The 18th round is in Kota Kinabalu from July 15 to 25. Full story
