We welcome local food, say picnic organisers
The Malaysian Insider, 30 Aug 2012
SINGAPORE, Aug 30 — Just a day before the controversial Diner en Blanc was set to take place in Singapore, international organisers of the “pop-up picnic” yesterday conceded it had made “mistakes” in the way it communicated its guidelines on food.
“It’s clear that the guidelines were misconstrued ... The most serious error involved a comment — posted on Facebook — that said local food wasn’t welcome,” it said in a statement signed by Mr Aymeric Pasquier and Ms Sandy Safi of Diner en Blanc International.
Adding that “the Singapore organisers have accepted responsibility for this”, they said the move “was wrong and was withdrawn, corrected and apologies tendered; however, the damage lingers”. Full story
