They have tattoos on their arms and back, played truant when they were younger, and have been to jail before. In February, Choong Woon How, 30, and his brother Choong Woon Fah, 26, were taken to court again and charged with having oral sex with a 12-year-old girl.
On Tuesday (10 July), the brothers walked away as free men after a three-year legal battle, when the court granted them a discharge amounting to an acquittal for their three charges.
The lawyer representing the brothers said that after discussing the matter with the family, they have decided to submit a written request to the Attorney-General’s Chambers to find out why the charges were receded. If the girl had made false claims, they would like to find out what sort of legal action could be taken against her.
The lawyer added that it is always easy to accuse someone of an offence, but it is much harder for the accused to clear his name. Full story
