I recently met a Filipino (a new Singapore citizen) but now residing in Canada. She told me that she was extremely happy to have lived in Singapore for 10 years and it has made her and her family rich. She was a lab technician working in TTSH. Her pay was S$5000 and on top of it, she was provided with a subsidized 4-room rental flat by TTSH, for which she was paying only S$750.
But since her sons have to serve NS, the whole family migrated to Canada about a year ago. She tells everyone here that she is a Singaporean yet she does not know Singapore’s history or whatsoever.
This is not the first time I have heard the so-called Singapore ‘citizens’ or PRs claiming to be Singaporeans, yet they know nothing about Singapore other than it is easy to make money in Singapore.
