Scoot Pte. Ltd., the medium and long-haul unit of Singapore Airlines Ltd. (C6L.SG), has no immediate plans to fly to Europe or the U.S. due to high fuel costs and will focus its expansion efforts on routes within the Asia-Pacific region, Chief Executive Campbell Wilson said recently.
"The punitive element of carrying fuel for the last three hours [of a long-haul flight] becomes very very tough. Whilst we've said we're a medium- to long-haul budget airline, we haven't yet announced any long-haul routes and indeed we have not committed to any time frame to do so," Mr. Wilson said in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires on Friday.
