An 82 year-old woman has suffered multiple facial injuries after being flung out of her seat when a SMRT bus made a sharp turn.
The incident happened at around 4pm on 14 June at the bend near block 138 of Bukit Batok Ave 8. At that time, the woman known as Madam Chan Lan Ching was taking bus 178 from Boon Lay to Woodlands to visit her daughter.
According to her, she was thrown off her seat and landed on the deck of the bus when it made a sudden right turn. In a report by the Straits Times, it was reported that just as she was recovering from the fall the bus driver jammed on the brakes causing Madam Chan to smash her face against a metal pole.
