Singapore joins long-bond club

The Republic of Singapore last week made its first 30-year bond issue, part of a broader initiative to develop the city-state’s local debt market.
Opening the 30-year point confirms that the government and the Monetary Authority of Singapore are determined to encourage dynamism in what is often regarded as a moribund capital markets arena.
However, analysts warned that the new benchmark was unlikely to tease out ultra-long deals from the city’s corporate sector. Full story
