Mr Ong explained to the Today paper, that his father was charging his year-old iPhone 4 when it started to emit sparks and smoke, followed by a loud "boom".
His house blacked out after the explosion.
This follows an earlier case where an iPhone, belonging to well known local hairstylist Addy Lee, exploded in a similar fashion. Full story
