Ho Yen Teck, convicted of 21 charges of conspiring to cheat the Singapore Land Authority, was sentenced to 10 years in jail for his role in the city’s biggest public-sector fraud since 1995.
“A deterrent sentence is clearly warranted” because Ho’s role wasn’t that of a “mere puppet,” Singapore Subordinate Courts Judge Jasbendar Kaur told Ho during sentencing today.
