According to Nanyang Siang Pau, the notices were placed on the second to fourth levels of the rest area in Mandarin Gallery, urging shoppers not to eat, sleep or engage in intimate acts.

Singapore drivers to face new ERP toll hikes

And come next month it will become more expensive on a daily basis when the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates goes up by S$1 per car at 23 gantries across the island.
The 23 toll points account for one-third of the total network and this price hike is the latest and one of the most extensive since the ERP was introduced in 1998.

Forces free hijacked German cargo ship off Africa; Somali pirates get away

BERLIN (AP) - German military and international anti-piracy forces attacked a cargo ship being held by Somali pirates off eastern Africa and freed it Monday, but the hijackers got away, the German shipping company said.
None of the 16 crew members aboard the Beluga Fortune, which was seized by Somali pirates about 1,200 miles (1,930 kilometers) east of Mombasa, Kenya, on Sunday morning, was harmed in the ordeal, Verena Beckhusen, a spokeswoman for the shipping company Beluga-Reederei, told The Associated Press. Fifty-Percent Increase in the Number of Women Suffering from HIV in Singapore

The Ministry of Health while releasing the data of infected people for the year has informed that there were 463 cases of HIV in Singapore last year. It was also revealed that out of the 463 cases, 418 were related to men, out of whom 115 men were married or were in long-term relationships.
The number of women infected by the virus rose by 50% from 30 to 45 this year. It was found that most of the women, who were infected by the virus, were in long-term relationships or were married. Full story

Meticulous Study On KL-Singapore High-speed Train Before Year-end

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (Bernama) - A meticulous study on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed train will be undertaken before the project is recommended to the government for approval, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Idris Jala, said Monday.
"By end of this year, a study will be completed on the pros and cons of doing it," Idris said when asked if the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed train was being considered as one of the high impact projects. Full story

DBS eyeing Indonesia assets but not China bank stakes

Oct 25 (Reuters) - DBS Group (DBSM.SI), aiming to expand beyond its home base of Singapore, is open to buying Indonesian assets that offer good returns but is not interested for now in Chinese banks where it can only get minority stakes, its chief executive said.
He told the briefing that Indonesian assets are expensive, but he would consider acquisitions because Indonesia is a "very good return market." Full story

Temasek Holdings of Singapore sold off its sizeable stake in Hana Financial because of fears that the latter’s plan to acquire Woori Financial might invite intervention by the Korean government in the merged financial provider, said a high-placed source familiar with the issue, Monday.
“Temasek was afraid the government would intervene in Hana’s management if it merged with Woori,” the source told The Korea Times on condition of anonymity. Full story
