THE Singaporean national accused of faking his way into a doctor's job at the Alice Springs Hospital has been denied bail for fear he may leave the NT.
Balaji Varatharaju, 29, appeared in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court yesterday facing six charges of obtaining benefit by deception, uttering a forged document, making a false statement and possessing poison.
The court heard Varatharaju is in Australia on a student visa which expires on March 15, but he should be granted a bridging visa pending an application for permanent residency. Full Story
