The free trade agreement (FTA) signed in 2004 has proved very beneficial for boosting bilateral ties between Singapore and the US with the trade touching S$86.3 billion during the financial year 2008. Trade continued to expand despite the adverse impact of global slowdown that declined trade by 2.1 per cent between 2007 and 2008.
