THE Federal Government has left the door open to Singapore Airlines getting the right to fly on the highly competitive Australia-US route once Virgin Blue's long-haul carrier, V Australia, becomes established.The aviation white paper, released yesterday, also confirmed the Government will ease foreign ownership restrictions on Qantas. But this is only expected to improve the airline's ability to tap foreign investors for capital, not increase the likelihood of merger activity.
