SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Singapore's unemployment rate rose to a four-year high as the current economic downturn led firms in the manufacturing and the services sector to undertake steeper job cuts.
The island's seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose to 3.2% in the first quarter ended in March from 2.5% in the previous quarter, the Ministry of Manpower said Thursday in a statement.
