Hopes raised despite fall in Singapore box traffic

VOLUMES at the world’s largest container port dropped an annualised 17.9% in the first quarter, but in a glimmer of hope the rate of decline is slowing.
Singapore’s container throughput for the first quarter of 2009 was 6.02m teu, down 17.9% from the same period a year earlier, according to figures released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
