CHENNAI: The mother and sister of a Singapore- based Indian computer businessman, who tried to arrange his third marriage, landed in police custody on Sunday after the second wife filed a complaint with a All Woman Police Station in Anna Salai, accusing the in-laws of harassing her demanding more dowry.
Afseen (33), the second wife of Mohammed Ali Merican (35) of Chennai, returned to Chennai two months ago from Singapore, where she was living with her husband and in-laws since her marriage in 2007. Afseen said she returned because she was unable to put up with the harassment there.
