Redundancies in Singapore triple in fourth quarter

Singapore - Nearly three times as many workers in Singapore lost their job in the final quarter of 2008 from the preceding three-month period as the global economic downturn took its toll on the city-state's labour market, the Ministry of Manpower said Monday. Redundancies reached a record quarterly high of 9,410 workers from October to December, up from 3,180 in the previous quarter.
