Is the bad omen hovering Singapore?

Over the weekend, lightning struck the Merlion statue, Singapore's ultimate icon. The statue is situated at the mouth of the Singapore River.

Is this a sign of bad omen for Singapore, which is going through a difficult economic time ahead?

Bad omen?

One witness told MediaCorp Radio’s 938LIVE that orange sparks flew when lightning struck between 4 and 5pm on Sunday at Merlion Park. The explosion caused damage to parts of the statue, with broken pieces falling to the ground. Merlion Park is one of the favourite tourist spots. The Merlion represents a mythical creature, half lion and half fish.
