The slowing economy and the accompanying job losses may be motivating more individuals to explore entrepreneurial ventures. That seems to be one interpretation of the preliminary data released today by GuideMeSingapore.com - a Singapore-focused information portal that covers a wide range of topics on doing business, living, and working in Singapore.

During the period from November 2008 to February 2009 - roughly correlating with the start of large-scale job losses following the financial meltdown of September 2008 - the site experienced a 79% increase in visitor traffic compared to the preceding 3 months. However, the increase in traffic to sections of the site that are devoted to new venture formation was a startling 156%. This increase was higher (187%) for returning visitors than it was for new visitors (123%).
