NEWater is meeting more than 15 per cent of Singapore's water needs, but the recycled water is mainly for industrial and commercial use, rather than human consumption, according to The Australian.
The newspaper quoted Singapore Department of Environment and Water communications manager, Ms Joy Tan as saying that less than 1 per cent of the city state's drinking supply was NEWater. This recycled water would rise to no more than 3 per cent over the next three years, she added.
