After several years in planning and construction, Terminal 3 in Changi Airport, Singapore opened for scheduled flights in January.

It will eventually have an annual handling capacity of 22 million passengers, bringing the total capacity of the airport to 70 million a year.

Budget airlines deliver 10 per cent of passengers and represent 13 per cent of flights.

Singapore is planning a sharp rise in arrivals, with completion of two integrated resorts, both with casinos, due in the next two years.

Changi generates surplus revenue of more than SIN$300 million a year for its operator, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
