Tiger tells Airbus to hurry up

TIGER Airways will ask Airbus to speed the delivery of up to 50 new aircraft because of rising passenger growth across the Asia-Pacific region.

Tony Davis, chief executive of Tiger, hopes to snare production spots recently surrendered by troubled and bankrupt carriers in the United States and Europe.

Tiger signed a memorandum of undestanding with Airbus for the 50 passenger jets at last year's Paris Air Show. Until yesterday, deliveries were to have begun in 2010.
