ST Engineering: Skybus woes won’t hit earnings

SINGAPORE: ST Engineering said yesterday that a bankruptcy filing by low-cost US carrier Skybus Airlines would have no impact on the 2008 financial results of its unit ST Aerospace.

However, ST Engineering that ST Aerospace's order book would be reduced with Skybus' bankruptcy. ST Aerospace had a US$635mil contract to maintain Skybus' fleet of up to 66 Airbus A320 aircraft, it said.

The contract was to have lasted over 12 years from mid 2007, ST Engineering said. Skybus was operating a fleet of 11 aircraft when it filed for bankruptcy on April 7, ST Engineering said. – Reuters
