This is the first update on my Price Watch listing, which I have started last month. The price survey was done between the period of 3rd to 5th Apr. Here are the observations:
1. Prices of almost 50% of the items listed in the "Uncooked Food" category have risen over last month. Only 2 out of 13 listed items (eggs & beijing cabbage) saw prices dipping by 7-8% respectively. Fairprice's rice, cooking oil, white bread & condensed milk, all registered double-digit price increases over last month.
2. In the "Cooked Food" category, prices are still holding steady as at 5th Apr. However, food portions are being reduced. Only the price of Economic Beehoon increased by 10cts for similar serving. However, prices of cooked food are expected to increase soon, in line with increases in raw food.
3, Price of electricity has increased by 5.57% wef 1 Apr. Water, gas, and TC's SC&C charges remain unchanged.
4. Transport, medical & education remain unchanged. However, transport are expected to increase in the next review.
