SINGAPORE (Reuters Life!) - In a faded sepia picture, a young Chinese woman wearing an elaborately embroidered blouse, sarong and finely beaded slippers, stares out from history.
The snapshot, taken at the turn of the last century, of a Nyonya or Peranakan woman, is one of the 1,200 artifacts on display in a new museum in Singapore dedicated to preserving the little-known Southeast Asian culture.
