Ailing Awami League (AL) General Secretary Abdul Jalil flew off to Singapore for treatment in the first hour of today after being released from detention on a 30-day parole last night.

A regular flight of Singapore Airlines took off from Zia International Airport at 12:16am today after a 21 minute delay from its original schedule for boarding the veteran AL leader and his wife Rehana Jalil.

Jalil, a former commerce minister, who had been undergoing treatment in LabAid Cardiac Hospital in the capital, was set free on parole around 7:30pm yesterday and taken straight to his Gulshan residence amid tight security under the supervision of jail authorities.
