KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 (Bernama) -- AirAsia's fares as low as RM9.99 for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore route has shown strong demand since its introduction on Feb 1, with both bookings for March and April surpassing the 50 percent load mark, the low cost carrier said today.

This is a good indication for the airline which is set to achieve its target of over 85 percent load for the sector, it said in a statement here.

From the overall bookings to date including flights from/to Kuala Lumpur, over 63 percent of the passengers travel for business, while over 37 percent travel for leisure, mostly in small groups of two to four.

AirAsia said Malaysians made up 59 percent of the passengers while another 41 percent were Singaporeans.
