Singapore has asked Indonesia to rename a new warship that has been given the name of two Indonesian marines allegedly involved in a bombing incident in Singapore in 1965.
Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen, replying to a question in Parliament, said naming the vessel “Usman Harun” 50 years after the bombing of MacDonald House would "reopen old wounds" and harm bilateral relations.
"The MacDonald House bomb blast killed three civilians and injured at least 33 more," he said. Full story
