Recession looms as Singapore's manufacturing contracted for a seventh straight month in January

SINGAPORE -(Dow Jones)- Singapore's manufacturing sector contracted for a seventh straight month in January as demand for the country's exports weakened amid a sputtering global economy.
The country's purchasing managers' index inched lower to 48.7 in January from 49.5 in December, the Singapore Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management said Wednesday.
A PMI reading below 50 indicates contraction in manufacturing activity. Full story
