PAP MPs display rarely seen passion when defending high ministerial pay

TR Emeritus, 17 Jan 2012
During the Parliamentary debate on the proposal from the Ministerial Pay Review Committee yesterday (16 Jan), a number of PAP MPs have spoken up in support of the proposal.
MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC Inderjit Singh said he supports Singapore’s clean wage system, saying the principle of paying Minister’s high salaries is not a flawed one.
On the question of pegging minister salaries to lowest income earners, MP for Sengkang West, Dr Lam Pin Min defended that such a suggestion is also flawed.
He said ministers should be concerned for the well being of all Singaporeans, not just the lower-income.
MP of Chua Chu Kang Alvin Yeo also defended the Ministerial Pay Review Committee and criticized the proposal from opposition MP Chen Show Mao. Full story
