A man is suing the Sembawang Town Council for compensation after an accident at a HDB walkway.
Ou Jian Chu, 46, had fallen at the walkway about three years ago in August 2008. It was a rainy day and the walkway, believed to be wet with rain, was slippery.
The fall resulted in Ou injuring his spine, and caused him to be paralysed from the neck down.
This is believed to be the first time someone is suing a town council for such an accident.
On the case, Sembawang Town Council says that the accident was caused by Ou's own negligence because he failed to make use of the handrails at the walkway. Link
