British author Alan Shadrake jailed six weeks and fined $20,000 for book on Singapore hangings

A British writer has been sentenced to six weeks in jail and fined 20,000 dollars (£9,540) for contempt by a court in Singapore.
The High Court delivered the verdict against Alan Shadrake, 76, in connection with his book Once A Jolly Hangman: Singapore Justice In The Dock, which was deemed to have insulted the Singaporean judiciary. Full story
