Khaw Boon Wan, health minister has urged the World Health Organization (WHO) to review the current criteria for declaring pandemics along with determining its pandemic levels.He said that the review was a must to better reflect the various levels of virulence of pandemic viruses. While speaking at the WHO Western Pacific Regional Committee Meeting, at Putrajaya, Malaysia, Mr Khaw called on countries to remain prepared for future pandemics by improving risk communications and cooperation between their animal and human health sectors.
